Week 6 Online presentation Tool

I've just been looking at the presentation tools on the blackboard website. I like prezi, I think it lends itself to our subject well. I need to look into it more, but I like that one

Same. I have never used it, but teachers at work have and said its pretty user friendly and free.
Do we start by getting all our info just into a word doc first or do we put it into a sideshow?

So I don't know if anyone else has set up or looked into many of the presentation options. i feel like we fell off the face of the earth for the last week or i did anyway. I'll send through the username and password to your emails.

My apologies for taking ages to respond... Work has been so busy and trying to study for other subjects too... It's hard work!

I have not used Prezi before but have heard good things... So I am happy to go with that!

I have just been looking at this weeks task about a checklist.
From what i read it only really needs roughly 4 points:
1. Accuracy - wether or not the authors credentials and quals are legitimate
- wether or not the info is free from errors
- wether or not it is from a trusted source (investigate the source)
2. Objectivity - if the purpose of the information is fact or someones opinion
- Wether or not it has a conflict of interest
- If its linked to a sponsored link on google
3. Currency - wether or not it is up to date, or when it was last updated
4. Coverage - the depth of the information

Ideas????

Thanks Shane for creating our Prezi page usernames etc.

Do we need to change our word doc's into Powerpoint slides to upload them or to a pdf? also, will we have a blank slide at the end for us each to put in our references?

For week 7 activity I thought we could use the following things for our checklist.

1. When was the information last updated?

2. Does the information citie anyone else or have links to other pages?

3. Does the information use correct grammar and punctuation?

4. Is the site the information was found well known? (likely to be trustworthy)

5. Does the site contain alot of advertising?

I prefer Jade's questions though. I'm going to search for a topic using this checklist effects of drug and alcohol abuse. If Jade's looks alright I'll post it on the discussion board.

Information on the Assignment from the Collaboration tonight:

It was mentioned that we need to have an introduction and a small conclusion to our presentation

we also need a reference slide and we all need to reference the ACA way (i think thats what its called will double check)
so if we just have a slide for referencing we can all add ours to it. (this is not included in word count)

We also need an appendix slide (not included in word count) with that table that we put what we were each doing in with subtopics etc.

For referencing one of my managers at work (who's doing a uni as well) suggested : http://www.citethisforme.com/

If you select Webpages it can auto-fill in most of the fields and also has all different types of referencing styles. Once you've put all your references together you can do a bulk copy and paste

I've added my bit to the 'prezi' presentation... I hope it is ok... How do you add another block for our references?

And I've been following peoples comments on the facebook page for this subject and people are putting video's and all sorts in their presentations, it adds to the word count tho... is ours OK if we are just using words and pictures?

I didn't realise that username/password details were sent to us... I've kind of updated the 1950's section, but we still need an intro and a closing statement thing. As well as the references title... I have to work earlier than usual this week so rather than continue playing around I have to sleep
I'll keep playing around if no-one has updated by then. Although we should discuss what our opening/closing.

Can someone please give me an idea of how to upload my slides? i am really struggling with it?

Does anyone want to have a stab at putting in a reference slide and a slide for the table that shows who did what?

Hey Jade, all you do is click in the text box that should already be in your part of the slideshow, or just click anywhere in the area and it opens a new text box, and you copy what you've already written (from word) and paste it in the text box.

Guys, we need to add a couple more slides (if that's what they are called) one for Intro, Conclusion and References... I don't know how to add new ones!?

Did anyone see that in the individual reflection it says it must include the link to the resource and must not need a password??
Can we take a password off our presentation once its finished and uploaded to the web??

Yeah jade I think we can save the prezi somehow and attach it?

There's a "download" button, and a "save a copy" button... I'm hoping that means we can save it to our own computers and attach it to the submission?

I might have a play tomorrow at work and see if I can add a slide for reference, appendix 1: the table, an intro and a conclusion.

Anyone have ideas on what our intro, conclusion should say. Is it a conclusion on our findings or just that we did it?

eg: Through online collaboration and streamlined teamwork an informative and fun informational resource was created on the History of Music???

I've just worked out how to add a slide for the references, and have added my references... Maybe we could fit the appendix in there as well? but I don't know how to get those foot prints Shane may have to fix it so it looks good...

Yeah I'm a bit confused about the intro and conclusion... I will have a look at the Blackboard and see if there's any hints...

Shane, Bobbie, do you have any suggestions?
